Peace Awareness-Raising Walk

The Ratmalana Sasanaraksaka Bala Mandalaya (Buddhist Protection Force) and the Dhamma Teachers' Association jointly organized a Peace Walk on Sunday, July 6, 2025, bringing together all Dhamma schools at the regional level, which was successfully completed.

Under the leadership and guidance of students from all Dhamma schools in the Ratmalana area at the regional level, this walk was organized under the theme "Let us protect Dhamma Education." The walk started from Galkissa Siri Sumana Jothi Dhamma School and concluded at Ratmalana Dhammikarama Temple. Through this initiative, we worked to draw public attention to several issues existing in the country at both regional and national levels, focusing on developing personal moral virtues and building a virtuous society - solutions that can only be achieved through the Dhamma school education system.

More than a thousand Dhamma school students participated in this Peace Walk, carrying various themed message boards. The walk specifically focused attention on the following issues:

  1. Drug abuse prevention
  2. Proper waste disposal to protect the environment
  3. Conducting additional classes on Sundays
  4. Development of personal human virtues
  5. Creating a society that observes the Five Precepts daily

The Dhamma children carrying boards with various public awareness messages made unlimited sacrifices for this cause. The Peace Walk was successfully conducted with the generous support of the regional police, Divisional Secretary, other officials from the Sasanaraksaka Bala Mandalaya, and the Dhamma Teachers' Association.

This peaceful demonstration exemplified the Buddhist values of community service, moral education, and social responsibility, bringing together the younger generation to advocate for positive change in society.
